Abstract
The development of
adventure sports can increase recreation and improve the health of society. It
can also attract domestic and foreign sports tourists, leading to economic
prosperity for the country. Additionally, adventure tourism can create
permanent employment opportunities for young people and serve as an important
source of foreign exchange. This research aimed to examine how the development
of adventure sports is formed in emerging countries. The research method used
was qualitative, and thematic analysis procedures from Braun & Clarke (2006) were
employed. The study involved a statistical population of champions and coaches
of adventure sports, as well as managers of nature tours and zip lines in the
IRAN (N=23). Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with the
participants. The research findings identified seven main themes (management factors,
infrastructural factors, cultural and social factors, financial and economic
factors, natural features, supporting factors, and the construction of
adventure parks) and seventeen sub-themes. Therefore, the results suggest that
organizations responsible for sports and tourism should adopt a broader
perspective when considering these factors. They should take basic steps based
on the extracted findings to address any inadequacies and shortcomings in order
to promote the development of adventure sports.
